Désirée Wickler forms multi-layered artworks that merge existential questions with modern realities. Her own approach combines contemporary visual language with past mythologies and thus creates new contexts of meaning. She uses various artistic techniques such as printmaking, artist books, drawing and large-format paperworks to stage theatrical spaces. Wickler’s work examine the self-identity of humans and their effects in a society, they reveal mechanisms of oppression and resistance and challenge us to take on new perspectives.
